Going Into A Custom Home Bar Mirror Fantasy
I headed down the extended hallway, moving over the green shag carpet I cherished very much. When I reached the bar, I caught a quick look of myself in one of the bar wall mirrors . I read the “fun never ends” quote that is etched onto the mirror and wonder. Is it always a party? Will the fun never stop? The party last night was terrific. Friends, a lovely meal and a glass of wine made it a special night – perhaps more than just one glass of wine.
Seeing the image of my weary eyes reflected in the personalized bar mirror , I changed my mind about having a gin and tonic after all. On second thought I head to the recliner and turn on HGTV. I found something soothing to see, hoping it would send me calmly off to dreamland. The next thing I remember Mike Holmes from Holmes on Homes is screeching at me. I began to dream almost immediately. The host of the home improvement TV show was in my home with me, moving around and pointing out the flaws. He pointed to the roof, showing me the gaps. “This roof,” he announced, “is not safe.” In a moment, he was pulling down pieces of the roofing, exposing wood and bare pipes. I panicked slightly as he demolished the roof covering, but he was calm about it. “This is good,” he says, and flashes the renowned Mike Holme’s smile, ” and so is the bar.” “This is lovely,” he expressed, running his hands over the antique bar. “I’ll have to test it out before I make my final verdict,” he announced. Instantaneously, the whiskey bottle was in my hand, and I poured us two stiff drinks.
We lapped our drinks, admiring the bar. “Have you at any point thought about painting these walls a different color?” he questioned. “A fine green, or blue, or even a darker brown would do this bar justice,” he went on. The dream transformed quickly, and the next thing I knew, we were standing shoulder to shoulder, painting the walls with oversized paintbrushes. We finished the first wall in no time and got on to the others, now painting them bright yellow. She halts at the bar where Mike Holmes is handing David Bromstad his drink. He raised his glass and announced, “A toast to the express painters in the world.”
I observed my cheeks go red as I knew my residence wasn’t going to meet his standards. Realizing I did not put this year’s paint on the walls may not have been my biggest sin. Even though I was dreaming, I felt flustered by my home’s out-of-date décor. We went back to my basement bar. “This bar mirror is lovely,” she states. “Is that a glass etching” I told him I had styled the etching specifically for this mirror. “A special touch like this custom-build bar mirror truly makes this a personal space.” Unexpectedly, for some reason, he pulled a chainsaw out from behind his back and slashed the bar in half. He didn’t seem worried about what he was doing at all. I recognized that I was wearing safety glasses and a hardhat.
I listened a voice, sounding like it was coming from inside my dwelling. The voiceover stated, “Will the Johnsons select the Victorian fixer-upper, the house with the big back yard, or the townhouse with half a bar and elegant, customized bar mirrors?”
I hear my wife’s voice stating, “Wake up, honey.” She switched the TV set off. “Stop!” I instruct her, ” I want to check which house they chose.” She appeared confused for a moment. “Oh, the TV show…they chose house number three,” she informed me.
As I floated back off into dreamland, I knew my mind would be filled with customized bar mirrors and bars sawed in half.
